Teacher Training

West Hatch High School: ITT -Initial Teacher Training.

At West Hatch we are committed to Initial Teacher Training and supporting the future leaders of our education system. We are proud of the work we do in preparing trainee teachers for their future careers. A significant number of our current teaching staff have trained here through Essex School Direct. All trainees are supported with excellent professional development programmes, weekly meetings with their mentors, half termly meetings with their Pathway Tutor and the outstanding online learning resources from TES.

At West Hatch we are part of a hugely successful Teacher Training Partnership – Essex School Direct. This partnership continues to go from strength to strength with over 16 secondary schools stretching as far as Newport in N Essex to Chelmsford, Ongar, Harlow & W Essex.

Tes Institute, a leading teacher training provider and the newest member of the Tes Global family, is delighted to be working in partnership with Davenant Foundation School and its partners to deliver School Direct Initial Teacher Training (ITT) through Essex School Direct.

Our salaried and unsalaried School Direct programmes are accredited by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) and they provide a blend of online learning and in-school experience leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and an option to add a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). The PGCE is accredited by our partner university (UEL) and is subject to annual review.
