Student Life
"The Higher Education programme at West Hatch High School has successfully allowed me to apply and prepare to top universities like the University of Cambridge, Durham and others alike. The teachers also assisted me during the personal statement process and gave me a plenitude of opportunities via university open days, shadowing schemes and residential schemes. Furthermore, assuming I did not go the university route, the school supported my idea of an apprenticeship in law and helped me prepare for that. The help and preparation with university and apprenticeships has made me confident that I will obtain a place."

"The enrichment programme at West Hatch has introduced me to new experiences that I otherwise would not have been exposed to, for example, training in first aid and even yoga! These experiences have taught me valuable lessons that I can use later in life and also helped me form new interests. Teachers and external visitors leading the sessions provide support during and after the sessions if needed which also helps make sure we all understand."

"West Hatch has provided me with countless opportunities from networking in respectable businesses such as Swiss Bank to partaking in competitions like the Investment League. This takes learning outside the classroom and expands my horizons outside the world of school life. As long as you're willing to put in the work, the sixth form team are more than happy to support you and give you access to all the tools necessary to succeed."

"Coming from a different school to join West Hatch at first seemed very nerve racking, but it is a decision I am very glad I have made. All of the teachers are so welcoming and you get stuck in with making friends straight away with the variety of opportunities the school offers. Being an external student, I assumed that it would be harder to get recognition from teachers as students have been there much longer than I have, but I can say wholeheartedly that the teachers at West Hatch have been so kind and supportive I feel as though they have known me for just as long as everyone else. Being at West Hatch, I have definitely enjoyed the multiple opportunities to get to know people in my own year as well as further down in the school, joining activities such as the dance club has really helped me with this. I have also recently been appointed as a school Senior Ambassador."

"Sixth form occurs at an important time of your life and it will be challenging but also really rewarding, take every opportunity that comes your way, be proactive and you’ll be laughing."

"Whilst I was at West Hatch I faced many problems – however, I was able to overcome these problems because of the support from the Sixth Form Team and the amazing atmosphere in the block. All the students are happy, engaged and enjoy the last 2 years of their education whilst planning their next steps."
Kyle Jones
"Sixth Form gave me a range of opportunities to develop my knowledge of higher education. Take every opportunity that comes your way as it will allow you to make a more informed decision as to your future path."
