Absence Requests

Applications for Leave of absence from school

The school will only consider any leave of absence request if they are made via the form at the bottom of this page.

Leave of absence may only be granted where an advance application has been made by the parent with whom the pupil normally resides.

Under the Pupil Registration Regulations 2013, amended regulation 7, the Headteacher [acting on behaviour of the Governing Body] is prohibited from granting leave of absence to a pupil, unless it is considered that there are exceptional circumstances relating to the application.

Please note: If you have previously received a Penalty Notice for an offence of failing to ensure regular school attendance or been the subject of a prosecution for any child in relation to irregular school attendance, you may not be given the opportunity to pay a further Penalty Notice; your case may proceed directly to court.

No term time holiday requests will be granted by the school.

Leave of Absence Form

Leave of absence may only be granted where an advance application has been made by the parent with whom the pupil normally resides.

Under the Pupil Registration Regulations 2013, amended regulation 7, the Headteacher [acting on behaviour of the Governing Body] is prohibited from granting leave of absence to a pupil, unless it is considered that there are exceptional circumstances relating to the application.

There is no entitlement to parents to take their child out of school during term time; however, you may apply to the school for leave of absence if you believe there are exceptional circumstances. Holidays during term time will not be authorised.

If the absence is not authorised and the leave is taken, the case may be referred to the Missing Education and Child Employment Service, who may issue a Penalty Notice for £120 [or £60 if paid within 21 days] to each parent for each child taken out of school.

Please note: If you have previously received a Penalty Notice for an offence of failing to ensure regular school attendance or been the subject of a prosecution for any child in relation to irregular school attendance, you may not be given the opportunity to pay a further Penalty Notice; your case may proceed directly to court.
