Exam Results - Main School

Message from our Headteacher:

I am delighted to share the outstanding achievements of our Year 11 students in this summer’s GCSE examinations. This is my first set of results since becoming Headteacher, and I could not be prouder of what our students have accomplished. They have achieved the highest attainment score of the past three years. Their success is a direct reflection of our school’s values of perseverance, ambition, and the pursuit of excellence.

These results are a testament to the hard work, resilience, and determination of our students, who have risen to every challenge with maturity and focus. I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our dedicated teaching and support staff, whose tireless efforts and expertise have guided and inspired our students throughout their journey. We are also deeply grateful to our parents and carers, whose encouragement and support have been instrumental in helping our students reach their potential. Education is a partnership, and these results reflect the strength of our school community.

Our students have achieved impressive outcomes across a wide range of subjects, reflecting both their dedication and the strength of our teaching. Art, Economics, English Literature, Maths, Media, PE and Spanish stood out with many reaching the highest levels of attainment. Subjects such as Design Technology, Computer Science, and Geography also saw excellent performances, with a significant number of students achieving top grades. The sciences continue to be areas of strength, with students demonstrating deep understanding and commitment across all three disciplines. These results highlight the breadth of talent within our cohort and the high-quality learning experiences provided across the curriculum.

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding success of Hidayah M, who has been recognised by OCR as one of the top-performing students in the country for GCSE Chemistry. This is a truly remarkable achievement and a moment of great pride for our school community. Hidayah’s exceptional results, seven grade 9s and three grade 8s, firmly establish her as one of our highest-achieving students.

Across the year group, our top 20 students collectively secured an impressive 60 grade 9s, showcasing the strength and dedication of our cohort. Among them, Ellahe S-K excelled with eight grade 9s, one grade 8, two grade 7s, and an A in the Extended Project Qualification.

I look forward to seeing our students continue to thrive as they take their next steps into our Sixth Form and beyond. Congratulations Class of 2025!

How Four Students Turned Challenges into GCSE Success

The Class of 2024 faced unique challenges—lingering effects of the pandemic, mounting pressure, and the uncertainty of first-time exams. Yet, for students like Larisa, Hidayah, Beatrice, and Amelie, resilience and smart strategies turned obstacles into triumphs.

Common Threads of Success

  • Adaptability and Perspective: All four students learned to manage stress by focusing on what they could control. Beatrice reminded herself that grades don’t define her, while Larisa broke her revision into manageable daily goals.
  • Strong Foundations: Hidayah credited paying attention in class and completing homework as the key to catching up when revision time came.
  • Planning and Consistency: Amelie’s structured timetable helped her balance multiple subjects without burnout.
  • Support Systems: Parents, teachers, and friends played a vital role in keeping spirits high and motivation strong.

Their advice to future GCSE students? Start early, stay consistent, and don’t let stress overshadow your well-being. As Beatrice put it: “You are so much more than your grades—trying your best is enough.”

Effective Study Habits Helped Larisa Achieve Top GCSE Grades

Sixth Form student Larisa says staying calm and focusing on short-term goals helped her overcome stress and achieve excellent GCSE results.

Larisa collected a string of impressive grades, including Grade 9s in English Literature, Chemistry, Product Design, and Spanish, alongside strong results in Maths, Sciences, and Art.

She said:
“I experienced intense stress and anxiety throughout my GCSEs. Being a Covid year, I had never sat real exams before apart from my mocks and the 11-plus. Managing all the subjects equally was really challenging, and hearing classmates say they were revising 9–10 hours a day made me feel behind—even though I was actually ahead.”

A turning point came when Larisa realised her revision strategy was working:
“I studied effectively for all my subjects and reached a point where I felt confident I knew everything. I started taking it day by day, focusing on what was important for the near future rather than worrying about weeks ahead. That made a huge difference.”

Now, Larisa is continuing her education at West Hatch Sixth Form, studying A-level Product Design, Art and Design, and Maths.

Focus and Determination Helped Hidayah Achieve Top GCSE Grades

Sixteen-year-old Hidayah says paying attention in class and staying motivated through friendships helped her secure an outstanding set of GCSE results.

Hidayah achieved an incredible seven Grade 9s, including Economics, Computer Science, Spanish, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, alongside Grade 8s in Further Maths and English.

She said:
“I faced a lot of challenges during my GCSEs—lack of motivation, tiredness, procrastination, and even struggling with time management. But after sitting my first English Language exam, I realised how much work I needed to put in. From that point, I dedicated myself completely during the two exam months.”

Her advice for Year 10 students is clear:
“Pay attention in class and do your homework—it’s your foundation. Revise smartly, especially before exams, and reward yourself afterwards. Treat mocks like the real thing, but don’t overwhelm yourself with stress.”

Now, Hidayah is continuing her education at Sixth Form, studying A-levels and focusing on making the most of every opportunity.

Perspective and Balance Helped Beatrice Achieve Top GCSE Grades

Sixteen-year-old Beatrice says learning to manage anxiety and keep exams in perspective was key to her success in achieving outstanding GCSE results.

Beatrice collected an impressive set of grades, including Grade 9s in English Literature, English Language, Spanish, and Geography, alongside strong results in Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Physics.

She said:
“Like most people during exam season, I struggled with anxiety about my grades. I put a lot of pressure on myself to be a high achiever. When teachers constantly remind you how important GCSEs are, it’s hard not to feel like your results define you. But I kept reminding myself that my grades don’t define me—I’m more than numbers on a piece of paper.”

Her advice for Year 10 students:
“Don’t be too hard on yourself. High standards are great, but not at the cost of your mental health. The excitement of good results is temporary, but anxiety can have lasting effects. You are so much more than your grades—trying your best is enough.”

Now, Beatrice has started at West Hatch Sixth Form, studying English Literature, Psychology, and Spanish A-levels.

Planning and Consistency Helped Amelie Achieve Top GCSE Grades

Sixteen-year-old Amelie says creating a realistic study timetable was the key to managing multiple subjects and achieving outstanding GCSE results.

Amelie collected an impressive set of grades, including Grade 9s in Italian, Spanish, Maths, Further Maths, Biology, and Physics, alongside strong results in Chemistry, English, and Economics.

She said:
“At first, it felt like there were too many subjects and never enough time to study them. A couple of months before the exams, I made a realistic timetable—around two to three hours of revision a day. That consistency made everything manageable.”

Her advice for Year 10 students:
“Start revising early—do a little bit every day from Year 10 and use your mocks to consolidate everything. Practice questions are the most important thing.”

Now, Amelie is continuing her education at Sixth Form, ready to take on the next challenge.

"The school provides a calm and orderly learning environment and pupils have very positive attitudes towards their learning."
