Return to School - Start of Term Info.

Below you will find some information about the first day of term, our new school day, our one-way system and our Risk Assessment for September opening (click here).

The First Day of Term

Our students have been out of school for a considerable amount of time and I'm sure many of them will be anxious about returning, particularly with the changes to the school day. As a result on the first couple of days at the start of term, we have planned to reduce the number of students in, on any one day and provide each year with a timetable that eases them back into school life. The start of term timings are therefore as follows;

The "New" School Day, September 2020

As a result of the guidance from the Department for Education, we have had to adapt our school day. This new school day will only be in place while restrictions are imposed on schools to limit the spread of the virus.

There is an image below outlining the day, but the key principles are as follows:

- Yr.9, 10 and 11 will start school at 8:35am and go straight to Period 1. They will finish school at 3:05pm every day.

- Yr.7 and Yr.8 will start school at 8:50am and go to their Period 1. They will finish school at 3:20pm each day.

- Yr.12 and 13 students will start school when their first lesson commences and will be able to leave school at 2:05pm if they do not have a Period 5 lesson.

These timings have been put in place as a result of the Governments request to stagger school start and finish times where possible.

We have requested that the buses arrive at school at 8:25am and 8:40am and leave at 3:10pm and 3:25pm to support students arrival and journeys home. Where possible try to avoid public transport if you can for your journey to and from school.

All students will get a 15 minute break between 10:50am and 12:05pm, and there will only be one year group on a break at any given time.

There will be no more than three year groups at lunch at any one time. They will each have a designated eating and outside area so that no group comes into contact with another year group bubble. The Sixth Form will only be able to use the Sixth Form canteen or leave the school site for lunch.

These timings have been put in place to limit the opportunities for students to come into contact with students from other year groups.
