West Hatch High School "delighted" with A-Level results

Students at West Hatch High School, Chigwell, have achieved excellent A-Level results once again this year following a long tradition for the school's Sixth Form. 

Students at West Hatch High School, Chigwell, have achieved excellent A-Level results once again this year following a long tradition for the school's Sixth Form. 

A quarter of all grades were A*-A with over half of all grades A*-B. 
Headteacher Daniel Leonard said: "We are very proud of our students' achievements and delighted that they have provided themselves with sound foundations for their futures.

"Having achieved positive results across the board there were some stand out individual and subject successes."
In addition to exceptionally high overall pass rates, the number of students achieving the top grades were impressive.

High-achieving subjects: 
80 per cent of grades in English Literature and History were A*-B
75 per cent of grades in Geography and English Language/Literature were A*-B
54 per cent of grades in Economics were A*-B
50 per cent of grades in Biology were A*-B
59 per cent of grades in the Extended Project were A*-A.

Mr Leonard said: All of our students have worked exceptionally hard over the last two years and they should all be very proud of what they have achieved.

"We are delighted that James Earl has achieved his dream of being accepted into a Medicine Degree at St Georges; many of our other students will also be moving onto Higher Education, such as Chemical Engineering at Birmingham, Psychology at Bath, Chemical Engineering at Queen Mary and Biochemistry at Queen Mary and Economics at UEA. 

"A number of our students have also been accepted onto prestigious Higher Apprentices and some are taking a gap year before deciding upon their future direction."

He added: "We have, as always, worked hard to support our students to do their very best this year and are delighted that they have achieved so well.

"There has been a particular focus on our most able so the results for these students as well as others are very pleasing. 

"I would like to thank the staff for the tremendous amount of time and energy they give to our students, but it is our students who deserve huge credit.

"Two years of hard work has really paid off and I‘m excited to see the careers and futures they forge for themselves following these achievements."
