West Hatch High School is delighted to share the excellent results achieved by its Sixth Form students this year. 

Half of grades awarded were A* to B, 79 per cent were grades A* to C and an overall pass rate of 98 per cent. 

Headteacher Daniel Leonard said that students had once again performed exceptionally well and given themselves a sound platform for a successful future.

The results mean the majority of West Hatch students have gained access to their first choice universities with a number now securing higher level apprenticeships.

Having achieved positive results across the board, there were some stand-out individual and subject successes. 

In addition to exceptionally high overall pass rates, the number of students achieving the top grades were impressive.

They included:

A-Level - Megan Isley (A*, A, A), Owen De Graaf (A, A, A), Phoebe Clements (A, A, B), Max Rutherford (A, A, B), Sophie Culver (A, A, B) and Naomi Whittaker, Harry Oliver, Nilofer Sait and Saul Wratten all achieving A, A, C grades.

CACHE - Charlotte Allen (A, A, A), Demi Marston (A, A, A), Safoa Adu (A, A, A).

BTEC Business Extended Diploma - Khajarn Singh (Distinction*, Distinction, Distinction), Joshua Yusuf (Distinction*, Distinction, Distinction), and Oliver Bateman, Charlotte Bird and Harry Ioannou (all achieved three Distinctions).

With regards to high achieving subjects 78 per cent of grades in English Literature were A* to B with 100 per cent A*-C.

67 per cent of grades in Art were A* to B with 100 per cent A*-C.

61 per cent of grades in History were A* to B with 89 per cent A*-C.

57 per cent of grades in Chemistry and Economics were A* to B with 86 per cent and 81 per cent A*-C respectively.

100 per cent of West Hatch students studying extended Diplomas in Business, Cache, Sports and Exercise Science achieved A*-B grade equivalents.

Mr Leonard added: "All of our students’ hard work and high aspirations have paid off and their determination to succeed has embodied the school’s motto to be ‘The Best that I Can Be'."

University destinations include Biomedical Science, Biology, Chemistry, English Literature and Law at Queen Mary; English Literature at Kings College London and Exeter; Maths and Economics at Loughborough; History with Politics and Accounting and Finance at City, and Zoology at Sussex. 

A large number of West Hatch students are also taking up higher apprenticeships at companies such as Chaucer Syndicates, Gleeds, Mindshare, Lodge Group, EY, Haysmacintyre and the Civil Service with employment already gained at One Hare Court Chambers, Rothschild and the Bank of England.

Mr Leonard said: "I have seen at first hand the hard work and endeavour that our students and staff have put in to make these results a reality. 

"We are all exceptionally proud of how well our students have performed once again this year. 

"Results like these do not come about without a huge amount of dedication from students and staff alike as well as the support of parents, and I hope that all those involved are delighted with the culmination of two years hard work. 

"I’d like to wish all of our students the very best of luck for the next stage in their lives in whichever path they choose to take whether it be university, apprenticeships or straight into the world of work.”
