West Hatch High School appoints new Head Teacher

The current Associate Head Teacher at West Hatch High School, Daniel Leonard, has been appointed the new Head Teacher and will take up his new role in September.

The current Associate Head Teacher at West Hatch High School, Daniel Leonard, has been appointed the new Head Teacher and will take up his new role in September.

Mr Leonard, who has been at the Chigwell school since September 2008, said: "I feel honoured to have been appointed by the Governing Body to be the next Headteacher at West Hatch High School.

"It is a very exciting time for the school and I look forward to building upon the successes under Mrs Howarth and supporting our students to have the greatest possible building blocks for a successful future."

Current Head Teacher Frances Howarth announced her retirement just before Christmas and will leave West Hatch at the end of the summer term after 18 years in charge.

​Mrs Howarth said: "​It has been an honour to have served the school and I wish West Hatch the very best in its next phase of development.​.

"​Following three intensive days of interviews and tasks I'm delighted t​h​at Mr Leonard has been successful in securing the position as Head of West Hatch from September.​ ​

"This is excellent news for us all as he is not only very capable but 100​ per cent​ committed to the school.​ ​He will do a tremendous job.​"

Mrs Howarth added: "I have enjoyed my 18​ ​y​ea​rs of Headship immensely and wish to thank all those parents who have entrusted us with their sons and daughters during what are their most important years to date.​

"I also want to say thank you to our amazing pupils, our very hard​-​working and committed staff and very supportive ​g​overnors and parents.​"​
