The Year 7 footballers at West Hatch High School bounced back from their 4-3 defeat to Hall Mead in the Essex Cup to beating Davenant Foundation School 6-1 in the WESSA District League.

Brandon Bryan-Waugh, Finn O'Dwyer and Tommy Byers each scored two goals while there was also a tireless performance from captain Kimarley Hudson and striker Kaiyan Reeves paved the way for the team to help themselves to a hatful of goals.

Man of the match was defender Charlie White whose bravery and tenacity was the catalyst for others to put in good performances.

The boys maintain their unbeaten form in the league with matches against Debden Park High School and Roding Valley High School to come in the New Year.

Coach Aaron D'Silva said: "The sign of a good team is often their reaction after a defeat and the boys showed an excellent attitude after last week's disappointment. It was by far the best they have played and I hope they continue to progress as a team."

Captain Kimarley Hudson said: "After last week we were so happy to get back to winning ways. We are growing as a team and feel we can win something this season."
