An award which recognises a student's commitment to West Hatch High School was among the awards presented at the Lower School Awards evening.
The presentations were made by headteacher Frances Howarth.
The ‘Spirit of West Hatch’ - Dylan Panesar - was chosen by his Head of House Rachael Minister who said he possessed all six of the school's ethos statements - Respectful, Ready to Achieve, Proud, Determined, Responsible and Considerate.
Mrs Minister said: "He is caring and dedicated to his studies, he comes into school every morning to set up the ICT suites, he is involved in numerous extra-curricular activities and is a talented musician.
"He is respectful to all members of the school community and although he is only in Year 7, he is a role model to all."
She added: Dylan does not strive for recognition, he focuses on the real and true values and contributions he can make. He is a citizen and he will benefit our society with his qualities and achievements.
"I am proud and honoured to have a student like Dylan in my House."
