A team of students at West Hatch High School, Chigwell, raised about £150 for their chosen charity Water Aid, with a car washing session.

It was charity ambassador Arjun Kuhaendran's fourth event of the year.

He said: "It went better then I expected. Everyone worked well and we washed 26 cars.

"Organising the event was tricky and easy but I wouldn't have been able to do it without the teachers. We received excellent feedback and I hope to do it again next summer.

"Supporting Water Aid will benefit the people in countries like Uganda, Lusaka, India, Bangladesh, Tanzania."

Fellow student Kenzi Henderson said: "It was such a fun day and I hope to do it again soon! I was with all my friends and wish I could do it more often."

Student Ajay Bhopal said: "It was one of the best school charity events and we all co-operated to get the job done."

Headteacher Frances Howarth said: "I was very pleased with the students reliability, commitment and hard work.

"A particular mention must go to Arjun for his superb organisational skills in ensuring the whole day ran extremely smoothly. Very well done to everyone involved."
