Upper School Awards Evening

A host of awards celebrating success throughout all aspects of life at West Hatch High School were presented at the annual Upper School Awards evening on Thursday 7th January.
 

A host of awards celebrating success throughout all aspects of life at West Hatch High School were presented at the annual Upper School Awards evening last night (Thursday).

Receiving the Mandy Padda Award for Art and Creativity, presented in memory of t​he f​ormer student, was ​Daisy White (Art and Design). The award also goes to Samantha Toplis and Emily Ly (Art and Design).

​The Anne Horne Award for Media Studies was awarded to Harry Hyett.

Anne taught at West Hatch for a number of years and helped to develop the media studies course at the school as well as being involved with various Performing Arts events.

The award is presented to a student or students who excel in media studies.

The Vic Norris Award for Drama and Performing Arts was presented to Deanna Mathers and Hannah Brandon (Performing Arts).

Vic taught drama at West Hatch and was a key part in various drama productions and shows. The award is presented to a student or studernts who excel in drama and performing arts.​

​The Rotary Business and Enterprise Award, presented by the Rotary Club of Loughton, Buckhurst Hill and Chigwell, was awarded to Freddie Wilson (Economics) for his business and enterprise efforts.

The award was presented by Rotarian Syd Treacher.

The evening also featured items of music and dance.

Headteacher Frances Howarth said: "We are very proud of all our students who achieved awards. Significant numbers of them contributed to our record Sixth ​F​orm results​ with​ 53​ per centachieving A*, A and B grades.​

"We wish them all every success in the next chapter of their lives and wish to thank parents for all the support they have given them and us over the past few years.​"
