A group of Year 12 students at West Hatch High School, Chigwell, travelled to Cambridge for an academic ‘stretch day’ hosted at Emmanuel College.

The event offered students the opportunity to get a taste of university life and find out more about the University of Cambridge The students choose from a selection of lectures to attend offered them a taste of different subjects. There were also lectures about choosing a subject and applying to Oxbridge.

Although the day was based at Emmanuel College, there were also academics from the University of Oxford and University College London.

Being based at a Cambridge college gave the students a feel for what life would be like at a collegiate university.

There were also plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
