A new head boy and head girl have been selected by staff and students at West Hatch High School, Chigwell.

Noah Lown and Deanna Mathers will represent the school at events and act as role models for the other students after being chosen following a selection process which saw an interview with headteacher Frances Howarth, a speech to fellow sixth formers and an election of teachers and pupils.

Noah said: "To be given the title of head boy for my school was one of the proudest moments of my life so far. I will strive throughout the next year to maintain the highest possible standards in which this school deserves and present its ethos to the highest quality.

"I feel very confident in taking this school forward. I currently study Law, IT, Media and business and feel I can take my role and what I have learnt to apply to both aspects of my West Hatch life.

"I look forward to a fantastic year ahead and I am ready to do my school proud."

Deanna said: "I am both honoured and privileged to have been appointed Head Girl. I currently study AS Media, English Literature, Drama and Performing Arts but performing is where my passion lies.

"Being Head Girl will give me the chance to give something back to the school which has helped me so much over the last six years and I look forward to the many opportunities this role will bring."
