Three students from the University of Cambridge visited West Hatch High School to speak to students in Years 7 to 11 about university life.

The students, from Emmanuel College, explained what studying and socialising was like for a student. 

Although they were from the University of Cambridge, they also mentioned the similarities with the University of Oxford as well as other leading universities.

The students selected to take part in the talk all have the academic ability to progress onto institutions such as Oxford or Cambridge. 

Tthe intention was to encourage them to consider such universities as a possibility.

Geoff Towsey, the school’s careers lead who organised the talk, said: "We are very grateful for the students at Emmanuel College to take the time to speak to our students.

"As I mentioned to the students, they all have the ability to achieve the grades needed for Oxbridge or another world-leading university but might not necessarily consider these institutions as an option. 

"From my perspective they need to decide what the best option will be for them, after Year 11 and Year 13, but they must realise that they all have the ability and are only limited by their own ambition and dedication."
