West Hatch Class of 2026 Achieves Outstanding GCSE Success with Highest Attainment in Six Years

I am delighted to share the outstanding achievements of our Year 11 students in this summer’s GCSE examinations. This cohort has delivered one of the strongest sets of outcomes in the school’s history, achieving the highest Attainment 8 score of the past six years alongside exceptional progress and attainment across the curriculum. These results reflect the ambition, perseverance and commitment that define the West Hatch community.
Mrs Reid, Head of Year 11, said:
"This year group has been an absolute privilege to work with. Over the past two years, we have seen them grow into a resilient, ambitious and supportive community of young people who have consistently demonstrated determination and character. These results are the culmination of hard work and perseverance from our students, supported every step of the way by their families and by an incredibly committed team of teachers, tutors and support staff. They thoroughly deserve this success."
There were excellent outcomes across a broad range of subjects. Mathematics was a particular strength, with more than a quarter of students achieving grades 7 to 9 and outcomes significantly above national averages. Very strong performances were also seen in Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish and Physical Education, while students achieved impressive success across English, Art, History and Geography. These results demonstrate both the breadth of talent within the year group and the high quality of teaching and learning across the school.
The achievements of our highest-attaining students were especially impressive. Across the year group, our top 20 students amassed an exceptional 74 Grade 9s between them, highlighting the academic strength and aspiration of this cohort. Among them, Raisa achieved an outstanding profile of eight Grade 9s and two Grade 8s, securing the highest Attainment 8 score in the year group.
While we are incredibly proud of these outstanding results, we are even prouder of the young people behind them. The Class of 2026 has approached every challenge with determination, maturity and a strong sense of community, supporting one another throughout their time at West Hatch. These achievements reflect not only academic success but also the character, resilience and ambition that will serve them so well in the future.
Whether they are joining our Sixth Form, moving on to college, apprenticeships or other training opportunities, they leave us as confident and capable young adults, and I have no doubt that they will continue to achieve great things. On behalf of the entire school community, I congratulate every one of them and wish them every success in the exciting journeys that lie ahead.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026. We are incredibly proud of you all.
