Student receives 'best individual performance' award at MP's debating competition

Year 11 West Hatch High School student Dylan Panesar received the 'best individual performance' award at the Epping Forest Schools Parliamentary Debating Competition.

The competition was organised by Epping Forest MP Dame Eleanor Laing.

Dylan was recognised for the way he presented his argument as he and Year 13 team colleague Naomi Hallowell put their case in favour of the Motion "That this House believes that mass protests about Climate Change are unnecessary and counterproductive as the danger to the planet has already been recognised".

West Hatch headteacher Daniel Leonard said: "It was such a fantastic evening and well done to all of the competitors from each of our local schools, they represented their schools and themselves very well.

"I am so proud of Dylan who's maturity and ability to express himself never ceases to amaze me. We look forward to next year’s debate, such a key skill for all young people to develop."
