Kane Phillips and Gemma Peckham were chosen following the selection process which included an interview and presentation to their peers.

This year saw a record number candidates stand for election. Before their names could be included on the ballot papers, the candidates attended a formal interview before they could make it onto the final shortlist.

Also standing for the Head Boy role were Joe Fellowes, Rahul Pathak and Hashan Sugunanandrajah while the other Head Girl hopefuls were Kiran Mundi, Hannah North, Alana Perlmutter and Leonora Troshupa.

Over a couple of weeks the candidates had the opportunity to address school assemblies to explain why they were deserving of their peers’ votes.

Gemma said: "It was a rewarding and enjoyable experience. I feel honoured to have been elected as the next Head Girl."

Kane said: “I am looking forward to being the communication between the students and  teachers."

Head of Sixth Form Anjala Sharma said: “All the candidates had a very clear manifesto. They spoke with confidence and passion. It is not easy to deliver assemblies to the whole school and they have been commended on their effort and determination."

Gemma and Kane will host the school's awards evening on Thursday, July 13.
