Students at West Hatch High School, Chigwell, are taking part in a sponsored Readathon to raise money for various charities.

The fundraising challenge, launched on World Book Day, was offered to all Year 7 and 8 students.

Each participating pupil is being sponsored for each book they read with the money raised going to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, Together for Short Lives and CLIC Sargent charity for children with cancer.

Year 7 student Ellie Randall said: “I’m really enjoying taking part in the Readathon and think the charities are great causes.”

Fellow Year 7 student Nicole Goldberg said: “I like doing the Readathon because the money raised is going to support children in hospital.”
