A West Hatch High School student is combining his school work with his

latest London theatre role.

Michael Matias, 14, has the lead role in the musical Bugsy Malone at the

Lyric Hammersmith.

However appearing on the London stage is nothing new for Michael who

already has a long list of West End credits to his name.

He starred as Young Simba in The Lion King, as Fletcher in The Bodyguard,

as a choirboy in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (at the age

of just seven) and was also part of the UK tour of the hit musical Oliver!

Michael said: “I just feel like I’m in my own little world – there’s no-one who

can disturb my acting and I can be who I am on stage with the characters.”

The teenager, who lives in Leytonstone, says he is now looking to further his

career by landing some film roles.
